Beautiful Bedroom!

OK, I was looking at my mostly clean room yesterday, and I decided it might be kinda fun to give you a blog tour of it! The pictures don't do it justice, but you get the main idea. I think it's beautiful, and it's filled with my personality. It's a bit long, so prepare yourself. Also, when uploading the photos, I forgot that what you put on first appears last. SO if you want to see it in the order I intended, I recommend starting at the bottom. =D

My room!

These three notebooks contain my "never ending novel." They have all seen a lot use and a bit of abuse. The blue one was the first, and is quite crippled. It is completely full, pages are falling out, and the cover is half torn off. I think it's seen it's better days.

Books I'm reading, some of them. And my Personal Progress book.

I have a habit of leaving piles of books next to my bed, even when I clean it. These stacks are actually much less messy than the ones you'd usually see.

My favorite quotes are stuck all over the side of my book shelf.

The one maybe ugly thing in my room is a bookshelf, my bedside "table". You could learn a lot about me from what's in there, but I don't think I'll name them all.

The top of my bedside "table". Covered by a pillow case from YW camp. I made the lampshade. And the thing in the frame is "The Family, a Proclamation to the World".

Nick knacks. Pics of upper and lower falls from Yellowstone national park. The Timpanogos temple. A clay pig. And yes I did that painting. I'm not a very good painter. Drawing is much better. But in my defence, it was my first acrylic portrait..

I made that little penguin. hehe!

My bed! All my plushies are piled neatly at the bottom so I can sit comfortably against my pillow. I throw them all off when I go to bed. My mom made the quilt for me. I might eventually replace it with one I make out of colors that match better. But I love it, so I'll keep it folded at the bottom.

My favorite teddy bear, and a Barbie doll my Grandpa gave me for Christmas a few years ago. It's the only one I own now.

This is a drawing/painting by me. I have no idea what kind of flower it is, but it's pretty cool. The picture distorted the color a bit. It's supposed to be more bright and less grey. Yes, it's in a plastic page protector. They're more convenient than frames, and it's easy to change the drawing when I decide I want a new one up.

my little mannequin draped with bracelets. The little hat was from a craft that I never finished.

My not so dainty dresser! Perhaps not the most lovely piece of furniture, but it's orange! The purple doily on my jewelry box was in my Grandma Preston's bedroom. That book is "Emma," one of my favorites. Hooray for Jane Austen!

These are miniature Chinese opera masks that our exchange student Lara gave me. China is a fascinating country. I learned a lot about it before she came, which made it even more fun to have her!

I think the two ancient looking books are way cool, so I put them on the prettiest thing in my room. In case you were wondering, they're "A Tale of Two Cities," and "Jane Eyre."

My beautiful cherry wood vanity! As you can imagine I use it often. And it's so dainty and pretty!

This is my first and last oil painting. Oil colors are so inconvenient! They don't cover well, you have to use a ton of paint for one painting, they're hard to work with, and they take SO long to dry. The effect is nice, but not worth the effort in my opinion. Now I just use artist acrylics and watercolor when I want to paint.

Porcelain dolls and a basket of bears! Notice the little green ornaments? I made those out of foam balls, cotton fabric, buttons, and ribbon.

My closet still doesn't have a door. I'm planning on making a curtain for it. I think it will leave it feeling more open than it would with a door.

These are some of my favorite drawings. Showing off? Maybe a little, but didn't Heavenly Father give us talents to share with others? This is how I glorify Him. Don't you love her fat cheeks?!

This one is one of my favorites. I didn't do the lips very well in it though, too outlined. I'm not perfect yet, but get better with literally every time I draw.

A picture of Joseph Smith, and some page protectors with a couple of my drawings .

A shelf with a few of my many nick knacks. You can't see very well, but the picture in the purple frame is my dad's mother.

This is the corner to the right of my door. It used to have a mirror right under the picture of the Savior, but now that has been moved to my door. And sitting on the floor is one of my favorite pictures. Samuel the Lamanite standing on a city wall and telling the Nephites to repent!

Well, I hope you've enjoyed my tour, and gotten to know me a little better for it. Can you see now that my favorite colors really are orange, lime green, and yellow? And I really do stick quotes all over. BTW, the little box on the left side of my vanity has a bunch in it. Thanks for looking!

Cute cute cute room! I even love the orange dresser. I love all of the artwork and crafts that you have around the room. You have a keen eye for accessorizing. You would do well in the interior design biz.

I have a really old copy of Jane Eyre too. What is the publish date on yours? I love old books!

And did I spot Country Living magazine in your bookshelf? That is one of my favorite magazines.

Hehe, thanks Aunt Kris. I thought about being an interior designer. But a year or two ago I decided I'd rather be an author if I can.

The only date I can find says 1847 wow, that's old! I love old books too! I love old things with character.

And yep, that's Country Living. I keep a stack of my favorite ones so mom can't throw them away. I love browsing through them. They're good fuel for the imagination.

LOL... my mom picked up a huge stack of old country living magazines at the library's used booksale a while back. They're cool!

LOL, I wanted to be a fashion designer before i wanted to be an author before I wanted to be a singer.... I still am considering starting a line of t-shirts with messages on them (one of my favorites, an ultrasound pic of a baby that says, "She was endowed by her Creator with certain unalieanable rights... among these being LIFE") and possibly writing a book eventually :-D

You'll have fun designing your own house even if you aren't a professional interior designer. Your room looks really nice! But hey, I want to see the INSIDE of those "Never Ending Novel" notbooks!

I love Tiff's room! Wally framed and sheet-rocked it, then Tiff and I painted it. Tiff and I even textured the walls and ceiling. I was a little worried about the lemon-burst yellow that she chose, but it turned our beautiful and sunny. Even though it's a basement room with little windows it always feels sunny and cheerful.

Kris, Tiff and I also painted the orange dresser. We were planning on getting some nice knobs for the dresser drawers, but we never got around to it. I guess we'd better do it.

I love your style Tiffany! Love your momma!

I feel like I'm getting to know you more nad more each time I check in on you! Your drawing talent is spectacular! Keep going with that one, my dear. Maybe someday I'll buy one of them & hang it in my own room. As for the closet... I don't know if you'd like them or not, but my girls both got beaded curtains from an online website. There are TONS of fantastic styles out there. I think they'd look pretty funky over your closet instead of a door! :)

Tiff, I really enjoyed the tour of your room. I think you are quite talented, and I am impressed. I love the orange dresser. Orange is one of my favorite colors. I love your little pillow that says to be still, and I love the dolls. I had a doll collection when I was young, until my dog Shaggy ate them. Now I only have 2 dolls. I have a Native Anerican doll that is made by a lady in Arizona, and I have a Kokeshi doll from Japan too. It is wooden and very pretty. I used to have a very nice Precious Moment's clown doll. I loved it, but I don't know what happened to it.

By the way, I really love how you have so much about the Prophet Joseph Smith on your blog.

I remember your doll collection Katrina! I had forgotten about it until you mentioned it!

I made a bear like the one you have. Mine was a dark green one. I love that you wanted to share you room with everyone in such detail. What a great way to inventory your place and show all the feelings you have abt your things. Good job and keeping it together. I have books by the side of my bed also.
