I got a Kindle! My crazy awesome impulsive boyfriend bought it for me. Haha. That's right, be jealous! I am super excited about it. I just got it yesterday and I already put like 20 books on it. Don't worry I only actually paid for two three. The rest were free classics. I haven't actually read with it yet, because I still have to finish the hardcover book I am reading right now. But rest assured I will get plenty of good use out of it.
If he was going to buy something impulsive like this for me a Kindle was a good move. As everyone should know by now I love to read. And I have been wanting one for a while. I will still always love real paper and ink books, and pretty bookshelves, stack and library's full of them. There is just something about them that excites me. And even though Jordon pretty much thinks it's weird to keep books at all when I have already read them I will continue to collect the best ones for my shelves.
But I am so glad to have my Kindle. It's the best for convenience as well as savings. You can get tons of books for free or really cheap (some are expensive, but usually cheaper than the paperback version), you can download them practically instantly, you can change the font size, and you can carry a library of over 3,000 books with you pretty much anywhere. No more packing a bag with five books weighing me down just because I don't know which one(s) I will feel like reading. And for some things I will still go to the library, but a lot less often. For example, I can get Gone With the Wind on my Kindle for about $6, but that's not a book I really care to keep and I can get it from the library free. But I got Mansfield Park on the Kindle for free, so I don't have to go to the library to get it and I can read it when I want (plus our tiny library one has that one in the gigantic all-in-one Austen book, which annoys me). And I can carry around my favorite books around on my Kindle so that if I ever just feel like reading something familiar and beloved I can.
Oh and the screen really does look like ink, not computer pixels.
So my opinion on the Kindle is that it is awesome. :)
