My Art: 2011

First of all this is my 200th blog post! Yay! It has certainly been fun. Even though I have only been consistent on and off.
Second, conference is a great time to upload photos and draw. :) And third, I have posted some of my art, mostly from this year. Enjoy.

PS keep in mind that they all look better in real life. :D

This picture didn't turn out at all like I planned really. When I am trying to carry out an artistic plan, especially when I am painting, I kind of just let it happen however. I am not to strict on sticking with the plan. Sometimes that works out and sometimes it doesn't. But either way I think it's a good creative habit. This one did turn out nice.

Purple Guitar: Watercolor.

This next one is a mix of acrylic, watercolor, string and torn paper. It was really fun to do. Again it does not look like I planned it to look. I think I like it better that way.
Love Who You Are: mixed media

Detail. This shot gives you a good view of the mediums layered up.

This one is from a while back, but I don't remember if I ever shared it or not. My goal was to be very bold with color and line, and to not worry at all about realism. I tend to stick with realism by default. That's fine, but I also like to try and push my boundries and try new things.

Starry Eyes: Acrylics

This one is a drawing from my last year of high school art. I adore colors, but I am better at black and white. And there is a beauty about black and white that I also love. It allows you to focus on shape and contrast.

Palm Tree: Charcoal.
This one is probably the oldest one. I can't even remember if it is from my first or second year of art. We focused on charcoal for a long time my first year. I hated that. But I am good at charcoal, and I came to love it. I just didn't like being stuck with it for so long. (I keep on using the word stuck.?) I actually pretty much love every medium after I have learned to use it right. Oil pastels I hated, because I felt like I was drawing with crayons at first. But I now know how to use them and love them. They make lovely portraits. I actually bet I would like crayons too. . . .

This is the most recent one. The more I look at it the more I think it's not done. So I will probably work on it some more and show you later. It was inspired by my desire for blue lipstick. And also to give credit where it is due it was inspired by this picture. I wasn't looking to copy it obviously, just to take an idea and make it my own. I also made a facebook graffiti version: Here.  Drawing on there takes forever, but sometimes it's fun.

Red Hair: Graphite and soft pastel.

Detail.

Myself with painting board.

Me! No makeup at all, but pretty I think. :D I also made the necklace with metal stamps.

So there you go. I have been meaning to post some art for quite a long time. And eventually when I have done enough I will post some more. I am constantly triying to be better. Practice is very important. But I have gotten to the point where I pretty much like all of my art, even when it falls short of my expectations. It's always a learning experience. And the reason I wanted to post it is because art is meant to be shared. I love seeing others art, so it's only fair that I show mine, and I want to . So yeah. :) Have a nice Sunday.

We are so different in some ways, such as the fact that you are so artistically talented, and m talents definitely lie elsewhere. But I do think we have some similarities as well. I love your art.

I don't know if all of my spelling is correct. I'm not worrying about it enough to check. Love you, kiddo!
